The rowhome grid
Block after block of two-story attached rowhomes on a regular street grid gives the neighborhood a more consistent housing stock than its neighbors to the southwest.
Port Richmond | Philadelphia, PA
Port Richmond runs northeast from Fishtown along the Delaware River side of the city, built around a tight grid of two-story rowhomes. Port Richmond Philadelphia real estate and homes for sale are more uniform than in neighboring river wards, with fewer large new-construction projects.

The neighborhood's commercial activity concentrates along Richmond Street and Allegheny Avenue rather than one central strip.
The Delaware River edge here remains largely industrial and port-related, and I-95 runs between much of the neighborhood and the water.

I grew up in Delaware County and live in Philadelphia, so City to Suburbs isn't just a brand — it's the market I know personally. Whether you're comparing neighborhoods, moving out of the city, relocating to the area, or trying to figure out where you fit best, I'm here to help you make sense of your options.

The stuff I'd want you to know before we started looking at homes here.
Port Richmond is generally associated with 19134 and borders 19125; the neighborhood covers only part of those ZIP codes.
Port Richmond is overwhelmingly attached rowhomes, most of them two stories, built in the industrial era and since updated to varying degrees. Newer infill and rehabs exist, particularly toward the Fishtown side, but the neighborhood's housing is more uniform than in the river wards to its southwest.
SEPTA bus routes serve the neighborhood's main avenues, and the Market–Frankford Line runs along Kensington Avenue to the west, with the closest stations on that corridor. Confirm the nearest station and current service with SEPTA.
Street parking is the norm and conditions vary by block; a limited number of homes have driveways or garages. Verify per property.
Philadelphia bills one citywide Real Estate Tax on the assessed value set by the Office of Property Assessment, so what you pay depends on the individual property's assessment and on any programs it qualifies for — the Homestead Exemption, LOOP, or a remaining tax abatement. There is no single “neighborhood tax rate,” so always check the actual property.
The local detail people miss
The interstate runs along the river side of the neighborhood, and proximity to it varies noticeably from one part of Port Richmond to another. It is worth standing on the block before you commit.
Philadelphia schools are assigned by address through the School District of Philadelphia, and the city also has charter, magnet and citywide-admission options. Confirm the catchment and any eligibility for a specific address with the District before you rely on it.
